Mod Manager Download Not Working
We have tutorials and plenty of peoples using it. We can get you up and running in no time, if you want.My browser is Chrome. I have found instructions for the problem but for firefox. Tried the method with Chrome, was unsuccessful unfortunately. If I uninstall NMM, will it affect any installed mods? I'm happy to give reinstalling a go otherwise.I guess if I keep running into problems with NMM I could give Mod Organizer a proper go. I only recently installed it to help with TES5Edit and keeping mods clean. Looks a little complex compared to NMM but I hear it's better for what it is in comparison.
I'll look into tutorials for the basics, give it a week test run and see which helps me more.? Can't hurt to keep one as some sort of back up.Thanks:). Actually, I think you can use MO's nxmhandler.exe under your Mod Organizer folder. If you have both NMM and MO installed, then running that executable should allow you to decide which manager handles these links by default.MO has a wider learning curve than NMM. The initial mod setup is a bit more tedious with it, because left panel resources need to be sorted out manually. However, MO installs all mods to isolated folders under it's own system and uses virtual Data folder to run them. This is very practical and safe method.
System makes adding, removing and updating mods and tools extremely easy and safe, after you learn the ropes.Once the left panel is set, you do not need to worry about resource priorities from install order (like for example XPMSE). You just merge or replace (depending on update) run tools as usual and go.It also does not lag as NMM does.
I do not know, if current version of NMM is more user friendly, but I think that I lost most of my last hairs the last time I tested it.
I'm not exactly sure how the browser integration works with the NMM and the 'download with manager'-buttons automatically launching the NMM to open the file, but if this doesn't happen, and there's no apparent script errors or similar in your browser, then I'm pretty sure the file type isn't associated with the NMM anymore, or something else along that line has gone wrong. First you need a place for your downloaded files - make folder that you create just for downloading into. It works best if it is outside of the game folders - I use C:DownloadsGamesSkyrim If it is a big mod or has multipl parts, I make a seperate folder for it.Use manual download to download to that folder ( the manual download will ask where you want to download to)Now, open NMM. Go to the 'Mods' tab.Look at (do not click yet)The TOP icon that looks like a puzzle piece - look on the right side of that icon for a very small arrow - click on that arrowYou should get a 'Add Mod From File' selection - click on that. Now, navigate through the file structure to the mod you downloaded and click on it - it will be installed just as if you had used the mod manager to do it for you.
